Your Transgender Tropes blog is easily the largest pile of steaming, stinking garbage I have read in recent memory. I am continually reminded of other works of garbage, including Mein Kampf (complete with poorly-structured, run on sentences that try and fail to sound sophisticated and intelligent), and any of the gutter tripe written by the self-appointed high priest of Satanism, Anton La Vey. Like La Vey, your miserable rants here are devoid of any evidence whatsoever. Your thoughts on the “tropes” you hear from trans people are full of the exact same logical fallacies you accuse trans people of possessing! The most obvious example is the repeated appeal to authority, namely, yours and other “radfems”. For example, in the first paragraph of Transgender Trope #1, you state: “The truth is feminist critics of transsexuality tend to be highly informed on matters of gender including those of the trans variety.” You know this to be true of all Feminist critics (yes, that should be a capitalized “F”, Hon, in your example, “feminist” is a proper noun, as you have it written, the term is ambiguous; but snarling, idiot rants such as yours have no time or place for clear meaning, much less clearly-defined terminology, do they?)

I could go on and on, but you aren’t even worth it. You will probably write me off as a misogynist, a woman-oppressing male, the real object of your scorn and hatred. Yawn. Hoist your flag high and proud for all to see! Not that anybody gives a shit about your cause, or ever will, especially when presented in the absolutely stupid manner in which you have chosen to represent yourself, and probably without permission or licence, others who may share a portion of your ideology.

Stay in college on your Daddy’s dime, Sister. It’s the only place anyone has any tolerance for people who hide behind “First Amendment Rights” atop rotten soapboxes full of nothing. Try pulling this kind of crap in any workplace today, and you will quickly find the expressway to skid row.

I would offer that skid row would suit you just fine.

Hahaha! I loved this. Thanks. “Appeal to my own authority as a radical feminist” that is awesome. Love the Satanism stuff and love the desire to see me destitute and homeless on “skid row”. Thanks for your comment boo boo.

Hi. I figured that you probably don’t read these, but as an philosophy major, I have to say that your analytic approach to everything isn’t working. You really ignore so much of the context. But that’s just my opinion as a Continental. Of course, no system is without its problems, and I can’t say that I know all of the ins and outs of gender theory and philosophy.

I’m a female that is currently considering an FtM transition (I might as well be a devil on this site), and it’s obvious to me that you have never had a real, positive experience with someone transgendered. Maybe you have, but you don’t care. I would assume the latter.

I guess I’m surprised at the adamantine nature of your arguments. Does a lot of this come from radical feminism, which is now what feminism has become in the vernacular? Probably. But I do more for the LGBT community than you probably do. I willingly went to college in the least gay state. I am a lot of kids’ first gay person they met in person. I’m building bridges and I’m helping the straight community come towards acceptance of all. How about you?

It’s people like you and Dirt that make me consider abandoning the gay community. As much as I love the people, I hate the community that to a point almost resists integration. And straight people have always treated me much kinder than I have ever been treated by the rest of the gays. So when I acknowledge that I have no sexual sensation in my erogenous zones and that I might be in a form I have no attachment to, I’m not rushing to run back to the lesbian community.

But I’m taking my time. I’m still learning about what I desire and want from my body. I don’t desire male privileges, I desire comfort. Feeling attractive. Feeling less frustrated that women I like won’t even look at me due to something I hate. I don’t think about becoming a man because it’ll fix my problems. I think about it because I feel that that’s already who I am, and my body is not assisting me with those desires.

This won’t change your mind. But I can’t keep reading these sites and keep my mouth shut. I know the drill; don’t like, don’t post, but who listens to that anyway?

May you live in an interesting time for your community.

This is shockingly unethical. Refrain from commandeering the word ‘feminism’.

    Hello–GallusMag?
First I have seen of your blog, but very interesting.
I’m a guy, and I guess the “cisgender” category fits me as identifying as male both in terms of biology and social presentation.
I’m not happy with maltreatment of (actual) females by (actual) males; nor, if I am permitted to say it this way, the reverse. I understand, if I read you correctly, that you are radically feminist and understand male/female socialization as tending to the subjugation of women. You will probably agree, even so, that not all males necessarily are participants (at least not willing participants?) in this. But that is another discussion.
I’m old school enough to believe that the binary nature of the human race, genderwise, is a genuine feature: male/female; not the ever-extending acronym of endless gender possibilities? The thing is, even if we don’t converge entirely on the question of the feminist dialectic, I was still at least marginally aware that some left-feminists actually object strongly to transgender ideology and practice. That’s interesting, since so many “feminists” and virtually everyone who publicly identifies as politically “liberal” seem to embrace trangenderism wholesale. But you, it appears, sing a very different tune– in particular critiquing men, through transgender identification/surgery/etc., of co-opting the feminine space which they have no right to claim or occupy. Aside from the political critique, I’d critique the whole business more from the standpoint of The Emperor’s New Clothes: where the Emperor puts on the faux suit of clothes, and everyone pretends along with him, until a child has the good sense to declare loudly and publicly: “but the Emperor has no clothes on!”
You seem to me to be saying that, with a good deal of vehemence and of course, the feminist perspective.
It reminds me of a decade or two ago, when, lo and behold, there was a strange and interesting convergence between feminists like Andrea Dworkin and Catharine McKinnon, with some folks who came from the political “right” (if we have to use those terms)–because, even if for different reasons, they opposed pornography and the sexual objectification of women. It’s okay, isn’t it (even if you think it insufficiently radical, or compromised, or a manifestation of the patriarchy, etc. 🙂 for a Dad (and now granddad) to object to the strip club in our city, or “escort” services, or porn of all stripes (including Fifty Shades and all its copycats)–as demeaning to women, particularly to my daughters, wife, granddaughters, sister, friends, colleagues etc., diminishing the goodness and blessedness of their femininity, their femaleness; subjecting them to attentions and intentions of men that are beyond foul ? And that these things impact as well my sons, grandsons, and other men to the hurt of women, and to the hurt of men themselves. Nobody benefits.
And self-mutilation in the effort to “take on” a sexuality which does not belong to one as well.
Thanks for listening; you can limit this to email if that is appropriate!
    Blessings.

Can the trope trope subvert the paradigm paradigm?
